Friday afternoon update. These are the significant availability questions across 20 Saturday games, grouped by matchup. Questionable and probable are the reported designations, not final decisions. Conference reports will be updated Friday night and again before kickoff.
TEXAS AT TENNESSEE
Texas: Running back Hollywood Smothers is questionable with a lower-leg issue. Tight end Nick Townsend was downgraded to out Thursday; defensive lineman Justus Terry, defensive back Xavier Filsaime and offensive lineman Jordan Coleman are also out. Edge rusher Colin Simmons came off the report.
Tennessee: Defensive back Dylan Lewis, linebacker Jaedon Harmon and tight end Ethan Davis are out. Running back Javin Gordon and defensive lineman Nathan Robinson remain questionable.
ILLINOIS AT OHIO STATE
Illinois: Receiver Jayshon Platt is doubtful and has yet to play this season. The offensive line is also without TJ McMillen for the season, with Brandon Henderson, Maika Matelau and Dezmond Schuster working toward returns.
Ohio State: Starting right tackle Phillip Daniels and defensive end Zion Grady remain questionable after missing last week. Tight end Bennett Christian is out. Defensive tackle James Smith and running back Legend Bey are off the report after leaving the Kent State game with injuries.
WAKE FOREST AT LOUISVILLE
Wake Forest: Starting quarterback Gio Lopez is questionable. That is the central game-day decision: if he cannot go, redshirt freshman Steele Pizzella is the expected replacement. Receiver Ny Carr is out.
Louisville: Starting defensive back Antonio Watts is out for the season with a knee injury. Defensive back Tayon Holloway and offensive lineman Cameron Gorin are questionable. Receiver Tre Richardson and running back Keyjuan Brown are probable.
COLORADO AT BAYLOR
Colorado: Receiver Danny Scudero is out, while running back Damian Henderson II and tight end Charlie Williams are doubtful. Running back JaQuail Smith is questionable.
Baylor: Quarterback DJ Lagway is probable after missing two games with an ankle injury, a major change for the Bears’ offense. Receiver Jadon Porter and safety Devin Turner are also probable. Defensive lineman Hosea Wheeler is questionable, and Devonte Tezino is out for the season.
NOTRE DAME AT PURDUE
Notre Dame: Safety Luke Talich has been ruled out with a wrist injury after initially being questionable. Brauntae Johnson is also unavailable, leaving freshman Joey O’Brien in line for a larger role at safety. This is the Irish injury cluster to watch against Purdue.
OKLAHOMA AT GEORGIA
Oklahoma: Starting left tackle Michael Fasusi is out. Defensive tackle David Stone remains questionable after a knee injury in Monday’s practice. Starting safety Michael Boganowski, linebackers Cole Sullivan and Taylor Heim, and receiver Trell Harris are out. Receiver Jer’Michael Carter was subsequently downgraded to out; linebacker Kip Lewis is probable.
Georgia: Running back Nate Frazier, receiver Isiah Canion and defensive back Justice Fitzpatrick remained questionable on Thursday. Frazier’s status matters especially after his fast start to the season.
OLE MISS AT FLORIDA
Ole Miss: Star running back Kewan Lacy is questionable with a shoulder injury. The Rebels also have secondary concerns: cornerbacks Dorian Barney and Victor Lincoln Jr. are out, while cornerback Cedrick Beavers and safeties MJ Preston and Craig Tutt are questionable. Linebackers Ant Davis Jr. and JaMichael Garrett are out.
Florida: Receiver Eric Singleton Jr. is questionable with an ankle injury after missing the last two games. Coach Jon Sumrall described his availability as a game-time decision dependent on how he moves in warmups.
UTAH AT IOWA STATE
Utah: Safety Marcus Wimberly, tight end Kana’i Lopes and offensive lineman Isaiah Garcia are out. Receiver Mana Carvalho and defensive tackle Karson Kaufusi are questionable.
Iowa State: Cornerback Jaheim Singletary was downgraded from questionable to out while in concussion protocol. Defensive linemen Trey Verdon, Daniel Howard and Ka’Mori Moore are also out. Receiver Ray Coffey and fullback Rylan Barnes are questionable.
IOWA AT MICHIGAN
Iowa: Running back Kamari Moulton and tight end DJ Vonnahme are questionable. Returner and running back Brevin Doll is also questionable.
Michigan: Starting right tackle Andrew Sprague, cornerback Zeke Berry and edge rusher Dom Nichols are questionable. Offensive lineman Manuel Beigel is doubtful, and Andrew Babalola remains out. Sprague’s decision is particularly important against Iowa’s defense.
TCU AT UCF
TCU: Receiver Jordan Dwyer is questionable as he tries to make his season debut after a foot injury; coach Sonny Dykes has said he expects him to play. Edge rusher Zach Chapman and running back Jon Denman are questionable.
UCF: Starting quarterback Alonza Barnett III is out with a hamstring injury. Keyone Jenkins, who started last week, is probable and is expected to continue at quarterback. Starting receiver Duane Thomas Jr., linebacker Lewis Carter and offensive lineman Owen Spell are out; receiver Jonathan Bibbs was also downgraded to out Thursday.
VANDERBILT AT AUBURN
Vanderbilt: Tight end Cole Spence is questionable after missing the start of the season. Defenders Jaylin Lackey, Jamison Curtis, Aaron Bryant and Nikhil Jefferson are out.
Auburn: Offensive lineman Tai Buster is out. Left guard Jack Leyrer and tight end Hunter Herring are questionable, leaving Auburn with a decision on its interior line.
WISCONSIN AT PENN STATE
Wisconsin: Running back Abu Sama and receiver Malachi Coleman were upgraded from questionable to probable. Right guard Emerson Mandell, running back Bryan Jackson and tight end Ryan Schwendeman remain questionable.
Penn State: Receiver Koby Howard is out. Defensive end Max Granville, linebacker Cam Smith and cornerback Christian Askew are also out. Center Brock Riker and tight end Andrew Rappleyea are questionable.
NEBRASKA AT MICHIGAN STATE
Nebraska: Defensive lineman Gabe Moore and tight end Carter Nelson are out. Defensive lineman Jordan Ochoa is questionable; safety Rex Guthrie was added as doubtful Thursday.
Michigan State: Starting linebacker Brady Pretzlaff is out after leaving the Notre Dame game. Starting cornerback Tyran Chappell, defensive lineman Cal Thrush and receiver KK Smith are questionable. The Spartans’ Thursday designations were unchanged.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MIAMI
Miami: Running back Marty Brown and receiver Joshua Moore will miss the rest of the season following injuries against Wake Forest. Linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin Jr. is expected to miss several weeks. Running back Mark Fletcher Jr. and receiver Malachi Toney were also hurt in that game, although coach Mario Cristobal expressed optimism about their recoveries. Fletcher’s Saturday participation still warrants a check before kickoff.
SOUTH CAROLINA AT ALABAMA
South Carolina: Offensive lineman Josiah Thompson, receiver Jayden Sellers, defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, defensive back Jalewis Solomon and linebacker A.J. Holloway are out. Edge rusher Dylan Stewart was probable Wednesday and came off Thursday’s report.
Alabama: Edge defenders Justin Hill and Desmond Umeozulu are out, thinning the rotation behind starter Yhonzae Pierre. Defensive backs Jorden Edmonds and Nick Sherman are also out.
KANSAS STATE AT CINCINNATI
Kansas State: Starter Avery Johnson is available, but the backup quarterback room is thin. Blake Barnett is out; Jacob Knuth and Dillon Duff were questionable on the initial Big 12 report. Safety Ja’Son Prevard and offensive lineman Oliver Miller are out.
Cincinnati: Offensive lineman Aiden Pastoriza, tight end DaMari Witherspoon and receiver Pierce Ayers are out. Linebacker Filip Maciorowski is questionable.
TEXAS A&M AT LSU
Texas A&M: Receiver and returner Terry Bussey is out for the season after a lower-body injury against Kentucky. Receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman and running back Jamarion Morrow are questionable after both missed that game.
LSU: Tight end Trey’Dez Green is out after being injured against Ole Miss. Safety Dashawn Spears and receiver Phillip Wright III are out; cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson is doubtful and safety Tamarcus Cooley is questionable on the initial report.
OREGON AT USC
Oregon: Starting receiver Jeremiah McClellan is out with a broken foot. Offensive lineman Trent Ferguson is out for the season; tight end Jamari Johnson and Kendre Harrison are questionable.
USC: Receiver Corey Simms is out, freshman receiver Trent Mosley is doubtful, and defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart is questionable after missing the opening games. Running back Deshonne Redeaux was also questionable on the initial report, so his status needs a final check.
MISSOURI AT MISSISSIPPI STATE
Missouri: Running back Ahmad Hardy remains out and has yet to play this season. Starting edge defender Darris Smith is questionable after a lower-body injury against Troy. Right tackle Josh Atkins and reserve back Malae Fonoti are out.
Mississippi State: Defensive tackles Diesel Moye and Trevion Williams are out, as is receiver Ayden Williams. Starting linebacker Zakari Tillman came off Thursday’s report and is in line to make his season debut.
MINNESOTA AT WASHINGTON
Minnesota: Running back Darius Taylor is probable after missing the Akron game. Starting center Ashton Beers is questionable. Receiver Hayden Moore is out, while defensive starters Aidan Gousby, Zahir Rainer and Matt Kingsbury were listed as probable.
Washington: Running backs Quaid Carr, Jayden Limar and Jordan Washington are out. Two starting defensive backs, Rahshawn Clark and Emmanuel Karnley, are questionable, as are defensive tackle DeSean Watts and center Landen Hatchett. Defensive lineman Elinneus Davis and edge rusher Logan George are probable.
