MLB INJURY NEWS UPDATE — SEPTEMBER 16, 2026
1. ATLANTA BRAVES
RHP Reynaldo López — Placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
2. ATHLETICS
LHP Gage Jump — Placed on the injured list with a left shoulder impingement, ending his season.
1B Nick Kurtz — Progressing through a hitting program for a right thumb strain, but will not return this season.
3. BALTIMORE ORIOLES
RHP Shane Baz — Exited Tuesday’s start after being struck on the right elbow by a 105.1 mph line drive. Further evaluation is pending.
4. BOSTON RED SOX
LHP Garrett Crochet — Threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday as he works back from left shoulder inflammation. Boston will evaluate his recovery before determining the next step.
RHP Tanner Houck — Completed another rehabilitation appearance and is scheduled to pitch again Saturday.
RHP Justin Slaten — Shut down for the remainder of the season because of degenerative changes in his right flexor mass.
OF Ceddanne Rafaela — Continuing to progress from a right quadriceps strain but has not been cleared to return.
5. CHICAGO CUBS
SS Dansby Swanson — Scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment after Tuesday’s game was postponed. He could return as early as Friday.
RHP Hunter Harvey — Shut down for the remainder of the season because of a right triceps and shoulder stress reaction.
6. CHICAGO WHITE SOX
SS Colson Montgomery — Exited Wednesday’s game after being hit on the left wrist. X-rays were negative.
7. CLEVELAND GUARDIANS
OF Chase DeLauter — Remained out of Wednesday’s lineup with right wrist soreness.
INF Angel Martínez — Remained out of the lineup with right flank inflammation.
8. HOUSTON ASTROS
SS Carlos Correa — Will not return this season following left ankle surgery.
9. LOS ANGELES DODGERS
DH Shohei Ohtani — Began a swinging progression Tuesday while recovering from left knee and right biceps soreness.
RHP Roki Sasaki — Scheduled to throw another simulated game Wednesday. He could return during this weekend’s series against San Francisco, possibly as a reliever.
LHP Kris Bubic — Activated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
RHP Edgardo Henriquez — Placed on the 15-day injured list with lower-back discomfort and will miss the remainder of the regular season.
RHP Edwin Díaz — Scheduled for another rehabilitation appearance Wednesday before the Dodgers consider activating him.
10. MIAMI MARLINS
RHP Pete Fairbanks — Exited his latest appearance because of nerve irritation in his right hand. This was his second appearance since returning from a similar injury.
RHP Max Meyer — Shut down for the remainder of the season with a neck strain.
11. MINNESOTA TWINS
SS Kaelen Culpepper — Placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a mild left hamstring strain.
OF Trevor Larnach — Remained out of the lineup with right wrist soreness after undergoing an MRI.
12. NEW YORK METS
RHP Robert Stock — Placed on the 15-day injured list with finger numbness.
RHP Daniel Duarte — Placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
RHP Devin Williams — Scheduled to throw another bullpen session Thursday before potentially being activated.
13. NEW YORK YANKEES
OF Aaron Judge — Exited Wednesday’s game with lower-right-leg tightness. Additional evaluation is pending.
RHP Clarke Schmidt — Activated from the 60-day injured list following his recovery from Tommy John surgery. He is expected to work out of the bullpen.
14. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
LHP Jesús Luzardo — Placed on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Philadelphia hopes he can return for the postseason.
15. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
3B Rafael Devers — Underwent surgery Tuesday for a core-muscle injury. He is on the 60-day injured list and will miss the remainder of the season.
16. TEXAS RANGERS
DH Joc Pederson — Sustained a left-hand fracture after being hit by a pitch. He hopes to return before the regular season ends.
17. TORONTO BLUE JAYS
RHP Shane Bieber — Pushed his first mound session back to Friday or Sunday, putting a regular-season return in doubt.
RHP Trey Yesavage — Completed a rehabilitation appearance Tuesday and is expected to rejoin Toronto’s rotation for his next outing.
OF Anthony Santander — Has not appeared in a rehabilitation game since September 11 because of lower-back tightness.
RHP Jameson Taillon — Will miss the remainder of the season because of right elbow inflammation.
