MLB INJURY REPORT — 8/31/2026

Most starting lineups remain unconfirmed this morning. The following are the betting-relevant injuries, returns and availability situations for today’s games.

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Ketel Marte, 2B — Expected to return from the 10-day injured list today after dealing with left knee inflammation. Final activation and lineup placement remain pending.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr., OF — Remains on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain.

Ryan Thompson, RP — Remains on the 15-day injured list with a lower-back strain.

BALTIMORE ORIOLES

Pete Alonso, 1B — Expected to be available after being struck on the helmet Sunday. He passed concussion testing and avoided a serious injury, but his final lineup status should still be confirmed.

Samuel Basallo, C — Dealing with a hand issue but currently considered probable for today.

Tyler O’Neill, OF — Remains unavailable with a shoulder injury.

BOSTON RED SOX

Garrett Whitlock, RP — Remains on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation. Boston continues without one of its most important late-inning relievers.

Marcelo Mayer, INF — His rehabilitation assignment was paused because of a right foot bone bruise. He will not return today.

CINCINNATI REDS

Elly De La Cruz, SS — Left Sunday’s game with left quadriceps tightness. He is currently considered day-to-day and has been listed as probable, but his final status should be confirmed when Cincinnati releases its official lineup.

Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B — Remains on the injured list with a groin injury.

MIAMI MARLINS

Xavier Edwards, INF — Dealing with a hand issue but currently considered probable for today. Confirm his availability when Miami’s lineup is released.

Max Meyer, SP — Remains on the injured list with a neck injury.

Pete Fairbanks, RP — Remains unavailable with a hand injury, leaving Miami without an important late-inning bullpen option.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS

Abner Uribe, RP — Expected to be activated for the series at Wrigley Field after completing multiple rehabilitation appearances. His return would strengthen Milwaukee’s late-inning bullpen.

MINNESOTA TWINS

Byron Buxton, CF — Placed on the 10-day injured list with a recurring right hip impingement. Walker Jenkins is expected to receive regular center-field work while Buxton is unavailable.

Joe Ryan, SP — Remains sidelined with a lower-body injury and is not expected back before September 7.

NEW YORK METS

Juan Soto, OF — Recently returned after missing 31 games and is expected to remain in the lineup against Tampa Bay.

NEW YORK YANKEES

Aaron Judge, OF — Traveling with the Yankees and resuming on-field batting practice, but he is not expected to play during the current West Coast trip.

George Lombard Jr., SS — Day-to-day with right knee inflammation and patella soreness. An MRI showed no structural damage, but an injured-list move remains possible. Confirm his status when the Yankees release their lineup.

Ryan McMahon, 3B — Remains on the injured list with a thumb injury but could be activated Tuesday.

SAN DIEGO PADRES

Gavin Sheets, 1B/OF — Placed on the 10-day injured list with a left foot sprain.

Luis Rengifo, INF/OF — Placed on the 10-day injured list with a right knee sprain.

Nick Pivetta, SP — Sidelined with a forearm injury and not expected to return until at least the middle of September.

Samad Taylor has been activated, while Sung-Mun Song was recalled to help cover the missing position-player depth.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

Willy Adames, SS — Remains on the injured list, leaving San Francisco without one of its primary power bats.

Matt Chapman, 3B — Remains on the 60-day injured list with an abdominal injury.

Harrison Bader, OF — Not expected to return this season because of a foot injury.

Victor Bericoto, OF — Remains on the 10-day injured list with a right knee bone bruise.

SEATTLE MARINERS

Emerson Hancock, SP — Sidelined with a groin injury.

Matt Brash, RP — Remains unavailable with a lat injury, weakening Seattle’s late-inning bullpen depth.

Luke Raley, OF — Remains on the 60-day injured list with a forearm injury.

TEXAS RANGERS

Josh Jung, 3B — Remains on the injured list with a left calf strain.

Kyle Higashioka, C — Remains unavailable with a right flexor strain.

Nathan Eovaldi, SP — On the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

Jack Leiter, SP — Sidelined by an ankle injury and not expected to return before the middle of September.
