MLB Weather Report — September 8

Weather looks pretty clean across the MLB board today, with no major postponement threats showing up in the early forecast. The bigger story is the combination of heat and wind in a few parks that could have an impact on totals.

ARI @ KC

This is the one that jumps off the page. Temperatures are expected around 96°F with the wind blowing out to center around 12 mph. The combination of heat and a steady wind out should help the ball carry. This is the strongest hitter-friendly weather setup on today’s board and a total worth watching.

PIT @ CWS

Another game with some help for the hitters. Temperatures should be around 79°F with an 8 mph wind blowing out to center. Nothing extreme, but enough to give well-hit fly balls a little extra carry.

CLE @ BAL

Warm conditions in Baltimore with temperatures around 78°F and a 7 mph wind blowing out toward center. There is a modest offensive boost here, especially for fly balls hit with some carry.

WSH @ SD

This one goes the other direction. Temperatures around 77°F with a 6 mph wind blowing in from center. Petco already tends to suppress offense, and today’s conditions aren’t doing hitters any favors. Slightly pitcher-friendly setup.

CIN @ LAD

Warm night expected at Dodger Stadium with temperatures around 86°F. Wind is light but slightly blowing out around 5 mph. Not a major weather edge, but the heat should help the baseball carry better than it would on a cooler night.

TB @ ATL

Temperatures around 85°F with an 8 mph crosswind. The heat gives hitters a little help, although the wind direction keeps this from becoming one of the stronger weather spots.

LAA @ BOS

Cooler and more humid at Fenway with temperatures around 66°F and rain chances around 21%. Nothing currently points to a serious delay threat. The wind is mostly crossing the field, so the overall weather impact is fairly neutral.

MIN @ DET

Temperatures around 76°F with a light 7 mph wind slightly blowing out. Small boost for hitters, but nothing strong enough to make this a weather-driven total.

HOU @ PHI

Around 78°F with a light 4 mph wind blowing in. Citizens Bank Park normally plays well for power, but today’s wind works slightly against that. Overall impact should be minor.

COL @ NYY

Around 80°F with almost no meaningful wind. Weather should stay out of the way and let Yankee Stadium play normally.

TOR @ ATH

Around 79°F with dry conditions and a 6 mph crosswind. No meaningful weather edge at the moment.

STL @ SF

Cooler conditions around 67°F with a light crosswind. Oracle already tends to favor pitchers, and there isn’t anything in today’s forecast that should change that much.

NYM @ MIA

The game that stands out most is ARI-KC. The combination of 96-degree heat and a double-digit wind blowing out is easily the strongest weather setup on the board. PIT-CWS and CLE-BAL are the next two spots giving hitters some help, while WSH-SD is the clearest pitcher-friendly setup.
