The Chicago Cubs have taken the strongest MLB moneyline move on today’s board, climbing 33 cents from a −130 opener to −163 at Circa.

Chicago is attracting approximately 81% of the tickets and 93% of the money. The larger share of money compared with the ticket count indicates that the average Cubs wager is considerably larger than the average Miami wager. That market profile is consistent with respected money supporting Chicago.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗨𝗣 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦

Miami will be without Kyle Stowers in its starting lineup after he left Thursday’s game with left-hamstring tightness. Stowers recently returned from a previous hamstring injury and represents one of Miami’s most important power bats.

The Marlins will start Heriberto Hernández, Otto Lopez, Griffin Conine, Javier Sanoja, Agustín Ramírez, Esteury Ruiz, Deyvison De Los Santos, José Serna and Brian Navarreto against Shota Imanaga.

Chicago is countering with Pete Crow-Armstrong, Seiya Suzuki, Michael Busch, Alex Bregman, Ian Happ, Nico Hoerner, Pedro Ramírez, Michael Conforto and Carson Kelly.

The Cubs have a balanced lineup against right-hander Janson Junk, with Crow-Armstrong, Busch and Conforto providing left-handed power and Happ offering a switch-hitting option. Suzuki and Bregman give Chicago experienced right-handed bats in the middle of the order.

Janson Junk enters at 6-8 with a 4.11 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. His 6.1 strikeouts per nine innings leave him more dependent on contact management and his defense.

That profile presents a challenge against a Cubs lineup capable of producing power throughout the order. Chicago should consistently put the ball in play and force Junk to navigate several difficult left-right combinations.

Chicago has the deeper confirmed lineup, the stronger overall roster and a starting pitcher with considerably more swing-and-miss ability.

Miami’s lineup is missing Stowers and features several inexperienced hitters. The Marlins are asking Junk to control contact against a Cubs offense fighting for playoff position.

The confirmed lineups support the move toward Chicago. However, the entire 33-cent move should not be attributed to the Stowers news unless the timing of the strongest market action matches the timing of his removal from the lineup.

Imanaga has struggled across his last four starts, producing a 7.13 ERA and allowing eight home runs. Cincinnati scored six runs and hit three homers against him in his latest appearance.

That recent form is the primary argument against laying the increased price. The Cubs may be the correct side, but bettors taking −163 are paying substantially more than those who entered at −130.

The move is valuable information, but the original number was the wager. Chasing Chicago at −163 carries considerably less value than the price that generated the steam.
