The first full FBS Saturday of the season includes several meaningful availability developments. TCU will be without two important receivers, Virginia enters its opener extremely short-handed, USC is missing a highly regarded defensive lineman, and Stanford could have multiple offensive-line concerns.
𝗧𝗖𝗨 𝗩𝗦. 𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗛 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗔 — 𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗩𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗨𝗠
CONFIRMED: TCU leading returning receiver Jordan Dwyer will not play because of a foot injury. Dwyer traveled to Dublin but was ruled out this morning. He caught 54 passes for 730 yards and seven touchdowns last season and was expected to enter 2026 as TCU’s primary receiver.
CONFIRMED: TCU receiver Dozie Ezukanma is also unavailable. Terry Shelton, Jeremy Scott and Ed Small become the primary candidates for additional routes and targets.
BETTING IMPACT: Losing Dwyer and Ezukanma materially changes TCU’s receiving rotation. It lowers the ceiling of the passing game and creates uncertainty for individual TCU receiving props. Shelton is the clearest player to monitor for an expanded role.
MONITOR: North Carolina tight end Jaxxon Warren has been listed out, while running back Jordan Washington has carried a doubtful designation.
North Carolina is introducing a new quarterback, new offensive system and numerous young contributors. Combined with TCU’s receiver absences and the damp Dublin conditions, there is a legitimate possibility of a slower and less efficient opening than preseason projections suggested.
𝗡𝗖 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗧 𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗔 — 𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗨𝗠
CONFIRMED: Virginia listed 17 players out on its official availability report.
The most meaningful Virginia absence is projected starting receiver Rico Flores Jr. Virginia will also be without receivers Dillon Newton-Short, Triston Ward and Isaiah Robinson, leaving the Cavaliers considerably thinner at the position.
CONFIRMED: Virginia running back Solomon Beebe remains suspended indefinitely. Beebe produced 1,222 all-purpose yards at UAB last season and would have provided experience and versatility in the backfield.
CONFIRMED: Virginia is missing three offensive linemen—Noah Hartsoe, Grant Ellinger and Alex Payne—along with several defensive-front players. Defensive end Ezekiel Larry, who recorded 10.5 sacks at Yale last season, is among those out.
MONITOR: Starting middle linebacker Kam Robinson is questionable. Robinson recorded 64 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and two interceptions in eight games last season. His availability is the most important remaining pregame decision for Virginia’s defense.
NC State also listed seven players out, including receiver Tyreek Copper, tight end Gus Ritchey, offensive lineman Rylan Vann and several defensive linemen. Most were not projected starters, making NC State’s list less damaging than Virginia’s.
BETTING IMPACT: Virginia’s receiver, offensive-line and defensive-front depth has been substantially reduced. If Robinson is also unavailable, NC State would have a more favorable matchup running between the tackles and attacking the middle of Virginia’s defense.
𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗝𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗧 𝗨𝗦𝗖 — 𝗟𝗢𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗠
CONFIRMED: USC defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart will not play because of a foot issue. Lincoln Riley described the injury as minor and said the decision was precautionary, but Stewart was expected to be an important part of USC’s defensive-line rotation.
MONITOR: USC receivers Terrell Anderson and Tanook Hines have dealt with undisclosed availability questions. Their status should be checked during warmups before using USC receiving props.
CONFIRMED: Luke Weaver will start at quarterback for San Jose State.
BETTING IMPACT: Stewart’s absence weakens USC’s defensive-front depth but should not produce a major downgrade by itself. The more relevant game conditions are the extreme talent disparity and temperatures approaching 90 degrees, which could become a conditioning problem for San Jose State as the game progresses.

CONFIRMED: Jacksonville State defensive lineman Jawaun Campbell has returned from his previous injury and is expected to play.
No other material game-day absences have surfaced for either team.
Jacksonville State must replace Cam Cook, who rushed for 1,659 yards before transferring to West Virginia. North Dakota State is replacing quarterback Cole Payton and receiver Bryce Lance after both departed for the NFL.
BETTING IMPACT: Both offenses are replacing major production. Early workload and player-prop projections should be treated cautiously until the new backfield and receiving hierarchies become clear. The game is indoors, so weather and field conditions are not factors.
