Corbin Carroll reported lower-back discomfort following Tuesday night’s game. His availability against Philadelphia has not been confirmed.

Carroll’s absence would remove Arizona’s primary power-and-speed threat from an offense that has scored two runs or fewer in six of its last nine games.

𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒 — 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄

Tommy White exited Tuesday’s game with back tightness and is expected to miss at least the next couple of games.

The Athletics are already without Jacob Wilson and Nick Kurtz for the remainder of the season, creating another downgrade to an injury-depleted lineup.

Adley Rutschman has missed two consecutive games because of continued discomfort in his hyperextended right elbow. Boston expects the injury to require ongoing management, and his status against Seattle remains uncertain.

Willson Contreras is already on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, leaving Boston short-handed behind the plate.

Pedro Ramírez has missed two consecutive starts after experiencing back spasms. He has resumed baseball activity, but his availability against Milwaukee remains unconfirmed.

The injuries have forced Cincinnati to use a significantly altered defensive alignment and increased roles for several young infielders.
