NFL INJURY UPDATE — AUGUST 30, 2026
NFL teams have not begun filing regular-season practice reports, so current Week 1 designations remain preliminary. The first official participation reports will provide clearer information as opening week approaches.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
WR Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday morning on two misdemeanor DUI-related charges. The Colts acknowledged the incident and said they are gathering information. No suspension or change to Allen’s roster status has been announced.
If Allen eventually becomes unavailable, Josh Downs would receive the clearest short and intermediate target-volume increase. Alec Pierce would also gain opportunities, but he is still working back from offseason ankle surgery.
Pierce has been activated from the PUP list and is expected to increase his practice workload. Indianapolis remains hopeful that he will be ready for Week 1.
TE Tyler Warren is recovering from a groin injury. The Colts have been cautious with him but are currently attempting to have him ready for the opener.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
QB Patrick Mahomes remains on track to start Week 1 following ACL and LCL surgery. He has continued taking first-team repetitions without missing practices, although final medical clearance has not been publicly announced.
RB Kenneth Walker III experienced ankle swelling but is expected to be fine. His participation should still be monitored when official Week 1 practices begin.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
RB Ashton Jeanty is recovering from what is believed to be a low ankle sprain. The injury is not expected to be long-term, but his Week 1 availability and potential workload remain uncertain. Rookie Mike Washington Jr. has received first-team work during Jeanty’s absence.
NEW YORK GIANTS
WR Malik Nabers has progressed to team drills without a noncontact jersey while recovering from last season’s ACL and meniscus injuries. He left one practice early, but the Giants said he had not suffered a new injury. Nabers is trending toward Week 1, although his full-contact workload remains a key monitor.
WR Calvin Austin III will miss the season after suffering a torn ACL. His absence strengthens the roles of Darnell Mooney, Odell Beckham Jr. and Isaiah Hodgins behind Nabers.
LOS ANGELES RAMS
WR Puka Nacua continues to manage a groin issue. The injury has been described as minor soreness, but he has not consistently completed full practices. He is currently expected to play Week 1, with his participation level and workload still worth monitoring.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
RB Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at least a month with a sprained MCL, making him unlikely to play Week 1. Travis Etienne Jr. projects as the primary back, with additional opportunities available behind him.
ARIZONA CARDINALS
RB Jeremiyah Love continues to recover from an ankle injury. The Cardinals have described his progress positively, but his Week 1 availability remains uncertain.
QB Carson Beck has resumed throwing after suffering a rib injury. His recovery could affect Arizona’s backup-quarterback structure but is not currently expected to alter the starting role.
Pass rusher Josh Sweat has been activated from the PUP list and returned to practice wearing a brace on his left knee.
CAROLINA PANTHERS
RB Chuba Hubbard has been sidelined by a hamstring strain, but the Panthers expect him to be ready for Week 1.
Carolina has also signed veteran LB Bobby Okereke. He could compete for immediate playing time after the Panthers dealt with multiple preseason injuries at linebacker.
BALTIMORE RAVENS
DT Nnamdi Madubuike’s Week 1 status remains uncertain because of a neck injury. Baltimore has not provided a definitive answer regarding his availability for the opener against Indianapolis. His absence would weaken the Ravens’ interior pass rush and run defense.
MIAMI DOLPHINS/JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Miami traded QB Quinn Ewers to Jacksonville for a 2028 sixth-round pick. Ewers had been dealing with a groin injury during the preseason.
The move changes both teams’ backup-quarterback depth. Jacksonville could now move on from Nick Mullens, while Miami’s remaining quarterbacks move up the depth chart behind its starter.
CHICAGO BEARS/ATLANTA FALCONS
Chicago is reportedly trading DT Gervon Dexter to Atlanta for CB Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round pick.
Dexter gives Atlanta an experienced interior defender who has started 33 NFL games. Phillips adds secondary competition in Chicago but spent much of last season on injured reserve.
