NFL NEWS AND ROSTER UPDATE — AUGUST 30, 2026
The NFL’s 53-man roster deadline has passed. Below are the confirmed moves and unresolved situations with the clearest potential impact on sides, totals, player props and futures.
These are initial rosters. Additional movement is expected following Monday’s waiver claims and post-deadline injured-reserve transactions.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Starting RB Josh Jacobs was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. Jacobs cannot practice or play, and no timetable has been established for his return.
Green Bay acquired RB Kaleb Johnson from Pittsburgh. MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks and Johnson are now the leading candidates to replace Jacobs. Lloyd has the clearest path to the lead role, but a committee remains possible until Green Bay establishes its rotation.
8/30 CONFIRMED — EDGE Micah Parsons was placed on reserve/PUP and must miss at least four games. He will be unavailable against Minnesota, the New York Jets, Atlanta and Tampa Bay.
Betting impact: Green Bay simultaneously loses its lead running back and best pass rusher. Monitor the replacement-RB workload, Jordan Love passing volume, opposing quarterback props and early Packers totals.
LOS ANGELES RAMS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Aaron Donald has ended his retirement and returned to the Rams on a one-year contract worth up to $30 million.
Donald has not played since the 2023 season. Sean McVay was reportedly impressed by his workout, but Donald’s conditioning and initial snap count must still be established.
Betting impact: Donald gives an already talented defensive front additional upside alongside Myles Garrett. This is a meaningful defensive upgrade, but the market should not automatically price Donald as the peak version of himself.
8/30 MONITOR — WR Puka Nacua and starting LT Alaric Jackson remain under NFL review. Neither was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List Sunday, so both remain eligible for now. Future discipline remains possible.
DETROIT LIONS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Starting safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph were placed on reserve/PUP. Both must miss at least Detroit’s first four games against New Orleans, Buffalo, the New York Jets and Carolina.
Chuck Clark and Avonte Maddox are expected to receive the first opportunities, but Detroit has additional health concerns in the safety room.
Betting impact: This is a significant early-season secondary downgrade. The Week 2 matchup against Buffalo carries the most obvious passing-game and total implications.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
8/30 CONFIRMED — WR Christian Kirk was placed on injured reserve because of a calf injury and must miss at least four games.
Mike Evans and Ricky Pearsall remain the primary receivers. Kirk’s absence opens the slot and WR3 snaps to the rest of San Francisco’s receiving group.
8/30 CONFIRMED — RB Isaac Guerendo was placed on reserve/PUP with a pectoral injury and must also miss at least four games. Christian McCaffrey remains the clear lead back, with Kaelon Black and Jordan James behind him.
8/30 UPDATE — San Francisco is scheduled to travel to Melbourne on Wednesday for its September 10 opener against the Rams. The early trip provides additional acclimation time but creates a unique preparation and travel situation.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Starting EDGE Harold Landry III remains on reserve/PUP and must miss at least four games. Landry led New England with 8.5 sacks last season.
Dre’Mont Jones and Elijah Ponder are among the players expected to absorb additional edge-rushing responsibilities.
8/30 CONFIRMED — OT Marcus Bryant was placed on injured reserve with a return designation. Rookie Caleb Lomu becomes the primary swing tackle behind Will Campbell and Morgan Moses.
Betting impact: Landry’s absence is the meaningful market item. New England’s pass rush is weakened until another edge defender proves capable of replacing his production.
CHICAGO BEARS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Starting nickel CB Kyler Gordon and LB Noah Sewell remain on reserve/PUP and must miss at least four games.
Gordon has missed substantial time over the past year and is the more significant matchup loss. His absence affects Chicago’s coverage against slot receivers and offenses that force defenses into nickel personnel.
8/30 UPDATE — Chicago traded DT Gervon Dexter Sr. to Atlanta for CB Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round draft pick. Dexter started every game last season and recorded six sacks.

HOUSTON TEXANS

8/30 CONFIRMED — Tennessee waived QB Will Levis. Cam Ward is firmly established as the starter, with Mitchell Trubisky now the primary backup.
Betting impact: The move does not change Ward’s Week 1 role, but Tennessee has removed a former starter from the quarterback room and now has less experienced depth behind Ward.
DENVER BRONCOS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Starting OLB Jonathon Cooper was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. Cooper cannot practice or play, and no return date has been established.
Jonah Elliss is expected to receive the first opportunity opposite Nik Bonitto.
Betting impact: Cooper recorded eight sacks last season. His absence weakens Denver’s edge rotation and increases the importance of Elliss and Bonitto in generating pressure.
ATLANTA FALCONS
8/30 UPDATE — Atlanta acquired DT Gervon Dexter Sr. from Chicago. Dexter recorded six sacks last season and should strengthen a defense that struggled against the run in 2025. He is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, making his Week 1 status worth monitoring.
8/30 UPDATE — Atlanta’s initial roster contains only two running backs: Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr.
Another back could be added through waivers, but the current construction points toward both players having defined early-season roles.
Betting impact: Bijan Robinson remains the centerpiece. Brian Robinson Jr. is positioned for complementary and short-yardage work unless Atlanta adds another meaningful back.
MIAMI DOLPHINS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Miami’s quarterback room has been reset behind starter Malik Willis. The Dolphins acquired Kyle McCord from Green Bay, traded Quinn Ewers to Jacksonville and released Mark Gronowski and Cam Miller.
8/30 UPDATE — Miami also released LB Tyrel Dodson after he recorded 129 tackles, five sacks and one interception last season. Rookie Jacob Rodriguez reportedly outplayed Dodson during camp.
Betting impact: Willis remains the unquestioned starter. Dodson’s release creates a potential early-season run-defense concern until Rodriguez proves he can handle the role.
DALLAS COWBOYS
8/30 UPDATE — Dallas acquired OT Broderick Jones from Pittsburgh. Jones has 38 career starts and has been medically cleared following spinal-fusion surgery, but he is still rebuilding his strength and playing weight.
Dallas also released RB Jaydon Blue and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

CLEVELAND BROWNS
8/30 CONFIRMED — QB Dillon Gabriel was placed on injured reserve because of a back injury and must miss at least four games.
Deshaun Watson remains the starter, Shedeur Sanders is the backup and rookie Taylen Green made the active roster.
8/30 UPDATE — Cleveland released WR Cedric Tillman. His departure creates additional opportunities for the younger receivers selected by Cleveland this year.
Betting impact: Gabriel’s absence primarily affects quarterback depth. Tillman’s release is more relevant to the receiving rotation and early-season target distribution.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
8/30 CONFIRMED — CB Cam Taylor-Britt is suspended for Week 1 against Baltimore. He cannot join the active roster until after the opener.
Betting impact: Indianapolis opens against a dangerous Baltimore passing offense without an expected contributor at cornerback. Baltimore passing and receiver props receive a modest upgrade.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

NEW YORK GIANTS
8/30 CONFIRMED — Odell Beckham Jr. earned a place on the Giants’ initial 53-man roster. Beckham is currently projected for a rotational receiving role rather than a lead role.
The Giants released WR Isaiah Hodgins, WR Jalin Hyatt and OT Evan Neal.
8/30 MONITOR — Malik Nabers avoided reserve/PUP and remains on the active roster following his knee rehabilitation. The Giants have expressed optimism about Week 1, but his practice participation and workload still require monitoring.
Betting impact: Nabers remains the clear player-prop and offensive-efficiency variable. Beckham could earn additional work if Nabers is limited, but no major Beckham workload should be assumed yet.
ARIZONA CARDINALS
8/30 CONFIRMED — RB Trey Benson cleared waivers and reverted to Arizona’s injured reserve. Because he was moved before the final roster was established, his 2026 season with Arizona is effectively over unless the sides eventually reach an injury settlement.
The Cardinals still have James Conner, third-overall pick Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier in the backfield.
