NFL SUNDAY NIGHT INJURY REPORT — OCTOBER 4, 2026

Sunday produced a rough injury slate across the NFL, with several situations that could have an immediate impact on next week’s betting market. Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley, Cincinnati receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and Kansas City receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton headline the list.

Baltimore, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Chargers are the teams carrying the most significant new injury concerns into Monday.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

The biggest quarterback injury of the day belongs to Lamar Jackson.

Jackson injured his left ankle while trying to escape a sack against Tennessee and did not return for the second half. He left the stadium in a protective boot, although the early indication is considerably better than the visual suggested.

Jackson is currently considered day-to-day. Baltimore coach Jesse Minter said there was discussion about Jackson potentially returning to the game, which is encouraging, but this obviously becomes one of the biggest injury situations to monitor when Baltimore returns to practice.

Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson.

The Ravens also lost starting cornerback Marlon Humphrey to a calf injury, starting right guard Andrew Vorhees to a foot injury and tight end Durham Smythe to an Achilles injury.

Humphrey, Vorhees and Smythe did not return, and Baltimore did not have definitive postgame timelines on any of the three.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

Washington’s quarterback situation became even more complicated in London.

With Jayden Daniels already out because of his left elbow injury, Marcus Mariota started against Indianapolis and then suffered a right knee injury in the first quarter.

Mariota had his leg twisted underneath him on a sack. He initially left under his own power but was eventually ruled out.

Rookie Athan Kaliakmanis finished the game at quarterback.

Washington also lost wide receiver/return specialist Jaylin Lane to what appeared to be a significant lower-leg injury. Lane was carted from the field.

The Commanders could enter the new week with major uncertainty at quarterback depending on the evaluations of both Daniels and Mariota.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

Cincinnati lost both of its top receivers Sunday.

Ja’Marr Chase suffered a concussion after his head hit the turf and was ruled out. Chase will now enter the NFL concussion protocol, making his practice progression during the week critical.

Tee Higgins suffered an adductor injury later in the game. Higgins attempted to return for one play on Cincinnati’s final possession but was unable to continue.

Higgins finished with 11 receptions for 157 yards before leaving.

Cincinnati did not have a definitive postgame timeline for Higgins.

Losing either receiver would matter. The possibility of Cincinnati entering next week with uncertainty surrounding both Chase and Higgins makes this one of the biggest offensive injury situations in the league.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Kansas City’s receiving corps took two significant hits against Las Vegas.

Rashee Rice suffered a right hamstring injury in the first quarter and did not return. Rice remained on the sideline receiving treatment, but his availability now needs to be monitored throughout the week.

Tyquan Thornton suffered the more serious injury late in the game.

Thornton sustained a dislocated left ankle after making a 55-yard reception. The ankle was put back into place by doctors, and Thornton is expected to undergo additional evaluation Monday.

Thornton is out indefinitely.

Kansas City won the game, but the health of the receiving corps becomes a major storyline heading into next week.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Eagles entered Sunday already severely depleted at the skill positions and then lost Saquon Barkley.

Barkley suffered a hamstring injury early against the Rams and did not return. He carried the ball only twice before leaving.

There was at least one encouraging postgame sign, as Barkley was reportedly walking normally when he left the stadium, but Philadelphia did not provide a definitive diagnosis or timetable.

This is particularly important because the Eagles were already without DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Marquise Brown.

Philadelphia’s offensive personnel situation needs to be watched closely this week.

GREEN BAY PACKERS

Green Bay appears to have suffered one of Sunday’s most serious defensive injuries.

Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper sustained a non-contact Achilles injury and was carted from the field.

Coach Matt LaFleur indicated afterward that the injury did not look good and acknowledged that it is believed to be season-ending.

Cooper had nine tackles, a sack and an interception before leaving.

The Packers also had defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt leave with an ankle injury during the game.

DENVER BRONCOS

Denver lost both starting cornerbacks during the second half against San Francisco.

Pat Surtain II suffered a right ankle injury on a non-contact play late in the first half and did not return.

Riley Moss was also unable to finish because of a rib injury.

The Broncos additionally lost reserve receiver Pat Bryant to an ankle injury after he caught three passes for 47 yards.

Sean Payton did not have definitive postgame updates on Surtain, Moss or Bryant.

Surtain is obviously the key name here. Any extended absence for one of the league’s premier corners would be significant for Denver’s defensive rating and upcoming matchups.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk left the Denver game with a knee injury.

Kyle Shanahan said afterward that the 49ers believe Juszczyk suffered a knee sprain.

The severity still needs to be determined, but the early diagnosis is a sprain rather than a more significant structural injury.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

The Chargers came out of Seattle with one of Sunday’s largest injury clusters.

Wide receiver Ladd McConkey left with a foot injury.

Starting left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered an ankle injury.

Starting right tackle Joe Alt suffered a neck injury.

Cornerback Donte Jackson left with a hamstring injury.

That means Los Angeles had four starters leave the same game, including both starting offensive tackles.

The Slater/Alt combination is particularly important from a betting standpoint. If either tackle faces an extended absence, the Chargers’ pass protection becomes a major issue to evaluate before next week’s numbers are finalized.

BUFFALO BILLS

Wide receiver DJ Moore aggravated his left shoulder injury against New England.

Moore has now left two games this season because of the same shoulder.

The early report is that the injury is not believed to be long term, but Moore is expected to undergo additional evaluation.

Defensive tackle Ed Oliver injured his left knee and is also expected to undergo testing and imaging Monday.

CHICAGO BEARS

Running back Kyle Monangai injured his thumb during Chicago’s win over the Jets.

Monangai still produced a huge game, carrying 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

He said afterward that he was not sure exactly when the injury occurred and expects to learn more Monday.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

Arizona had several injuries emerge against the Giants.

Starting offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. suffered a biceps injury and was seen with his arm in a sling after the game. That is the most important Cardinals injury to monitor entering Monday.

Safety Andrew Wingard left with a knee injury, guard Isaiah Adams suffered an ankle injury and tight end Hunter Long left with a knee injury.

Arizona should have more information after additional evaluation.

BOTTOM LINE

Lamar Jackson’s ankle is the biggest quarterback situation coming out of Sunday. The early indication is day-to-day rather than a major absence, but his practice status becomes mandatory monitoring this week.

Cincinnati may have the most important receiving situation with Ja’Marr Chase entering concussion protocol and Tee Higgins dealing with an adductor injury.

Kansas City also took a major hit at receiver. Rashee Rice has a hamstring injury and Tyquan Thornton is out indefinitely after dislocating his ankle.

Philadelphia needs an update on Saquon Barkley’s hamstring after already entering Sunday without multiple starting pass catchers.

Green Bay expects Edgerrin Cooper’s Achilles injury to be season-ending.

Denver needs answers on Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss after losing both starting corners.

The Chargers may have Sunday’s most important cluster injury after losing Ladd McConkey, Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt and Donte Jackson during the same game. The status of both starting tackles will be especially important for next week’s handicap.

Those are the situations to prioritize when Monday testing, MRIs and coach updates begin coming out.
