Bettors who remember last season’s Panthers-Cardinals meeting may feel differently.
The teams met in Glendale on September 14, 2025, when Carolina entered as a seven-point underdog. That touchdown moved Carolina inside the seven-point number and completed a remarkable backdoor cover.
The drama continued when the Panthers recovered the ensuing onside kick. Carolina advanced into Arizona territory and briefly had an opportunity to complete an even more improbable comeback, but the Cardinals finally closed the game.
Arizona won on the scoreboard. Carolina bettors cashed their tickets.
The Cardinals produced another painful home collapse only three weeks later. Arizona led Tennessee 21-6 before a series of costly mistakes helped the Titans steal a 22-21 victory on a field goal at the final whistle. The loss affected moneyline bettors and survivor-pool entries across the country.
Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game will feature a much different type of football. Carolina has confirmed that Bryce Young will not play. Kenny Pickett is expected to start, with undrafted rookie Haynes King receiving substantial second-half work. Arizona rookie running back Jeremiyah Love will also sit out.
With many established starters likely watching from the sideline, the betting focus shifts toward backup quarterbacks, offensive-line depth, young receivers, special-teams units and players competing for roster positions.
The matchup also carries special meaning during Hall of Fame weekend. Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald and Panthers great Luke Kuechly are members of the 2026 Hall of Fame class alongside Drew Brees, Roger Craig and Adam Vinatieri. They will be recognized as part of the festivities in Canton.
