MLB Weather Watch — Wednesday, August 26
MLB WEATHER REPORT — WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26
Temperatures will generally be in the 70s and 80s across Wednesday’s outdoor MLB slate, with a few important exceptions. Sacramento and St. Louis will be among the hottest locations, while San Francisco will be considerably cooler with temperatures in the 60s.
SUTTER HEALTH PARK — TWINS AT ATHLETICS
This is the clear No. 1 hitting environment on Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to be around 95 degrees at the start, with winds blowing out at approximately 11-13 mph during the game. The combination of extreme heat and strong out-blowing wind creates the strongest weather boost to offense on the slate.
YANKEE STADIUM — ASTROS AT YANKEES
One of Wednesday’s more notable wind situations. Winds are expected around 11-12 mph with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s. Conditions should provide some assistance to power and well-hit fly balls.
NATIONALS PARK — ROCKIES AT NATIONALS
Warm conditions are expected with temperatures beginning around 86 degrees and winds ranging from approximately 7-10 mph. The combination of warmth and wind makes this another favorable offensive environment worth watching.
RATE FIELD — RANGERS AT WHITE SOX
Temperatures should remain in the low 70s with winds around 6-9 mph. Conditions provide a modest boost for hitters.
ANGEL STADIUM — GUARDIANS AT ANGELS
Warm and stable conditions are expected, with temperatures around 84 degrees throughout the game. Winds could reach approximately 10-12 mph. Conditions lean favorable for hitters, although the effect isn't as extreme as Sacramento.
COMERICA PARK — RAYS AT TIGERS
This is Wednesday’s strongest pitcher-friendly weather environment. Winds are projected to blow in at approximately 12-13 mph with temperatures in the upper 70s. The strong incoming wind should suppress home-run distance and make Detroit one of the toughest environments for power on the slate.
ORACLE PARK — REDS AT GIANTS
Cool temperatures around 64 degrees are expected with winds around 7-9 mph. The cooler air should help keep this a relatively difficult environment for power.
PETCO PARK — PIRATES AT PADRES
Temperatures should remain around 75 degrees with winds near 11 mph. Despite the stronger wind, the overall weather impact is expected to be relatively modest.
ROOF GAMES
Chase Field for Cubs-Diamondbacks and LoanDepot Park for Red Sox-Marlins are listed with the roof closed, substantially reducing weather’s influence on those games.
WEATHER SUMMARY
Best hitting environment: Twins-Athletics at Sutter Health Park
Other favorable wind spots: Astros-Yankees, Rockies-Nationals and Rangers-White Sox
Most pitcher-friendly weather: Rays-Tigers at Comerica Park
Coolest outdoor environment: Reds-Giants at Oracle Park
Roof closed: Cubs-Diamondbacks and Red Sox-Marlins
The biggest weather takeaway is Sacramento. Extreme heat combined with double-digit out-blowing wind makes Twins-Athletics the premier weather-driven offensive and home-run environment on Wednesday’s MLB slate.
