NFL Wednesday Injury Report — Week 5 Key Updates — October 7, 2026
Wednesday's injury reports have produced several important developments ahead of Week 5. Baltimore's quarterback situation, Philadelphia's depleted backfield, Cincinnati's receiver cluster and the Chargers' offensive line remain among the biggest concerns. Chicago also reported multiple offensive starters missing practice, while Thursday's Tampa Bay–Dallas game now has confirmed absences on both sides.
ARIZONA CARDINALS
Starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. is out for the season with a torn biceps. Arizona has brought in Jedrick Wills Jr. for tackle depth, while guard Isaiah Adams remains an injury concern.
The offensive line is a significant matchup issue against Detroit, particularly if Arizona is forced to replace multiple starters.
BALTIMORE RAVENS
Lamar Jackson did not practice Wednesday because of his ankle injury. Baltimore is preparing Tyler Huntley to start against Atlanta, although Jackson has not been officially ruled out.
The Ravens also have concerns along the offensive line involving Ronnie Stanley and Andrew Vorhees, while cornerback Marlon Humphrey continues to deal with a calf injury.
Jackson's availability remains one of the largest quarterback-related betting variables of Week 5.
CHICAGO BEARS
Caleb Williams remains sidelined with his hamstring injury, leaving Tyson Bagent in position to start against Green Bay.
Chicago's Wednesday injury report also showed running backs D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai missing practice. Offensive linemen Jonah Jackson, Joe Thuney and Darnell Wright were also nonparticipants.
This is a potentially significant offensive cluster. The backfield and offensive line require another check Thursday before determining how many starters Chicago could be missing.
CINCINNATI BENGALS
Ja'Marr Chase did not practice Wednesday and remains in concussion protocol. Tee Higgins also missed practice with groin and neck issues.
Cincinnati's defensive injury list is growing as well. Safeties Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger were nonparticipants, while Jordan Battle was limited.
The receiver situation is particularly important against Miami. Cincinnati could face a major reduction in its passing-game personnel if both Chase and Higgins are unavailable.
DALLAS COWBOYS
Dallas has ruled out cornerback Cobie Durant, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and offensive tackle Drew Shelton for Thursday's game against Tampa Bay.
Guard Tyler Smith returned to full practice Wednesday but carries a questionable designation.
The defensive absences are significant, although Tampa Bay is also operating without its starting quarterback.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
Green Bay continues adjusting its offensive line, with Jordan Morgan, Laken Tomlinson, Sean Rhyan, Kevin Zeitler and Anthony Belton working together during Wednesday drills.
The group represents a reconstructed starting line rather than the original five returning from injury.
Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper is out for the season with an Achilles injury, creating a meaningful defensive loss ahead of the Chicago matchup.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
Starting left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss time. Right tackle Joe Alt is also being evaluated after suffering a neck injury.
The Chargers could be forced into major offensive-line changes against Denver. Slater is considered a possible injured-reserve candidate, while Alt's recovery timetable remains less certain.
This remains one of the most important offensive-line injury clusters on the Week 5 schedule.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Quarterback Tyler Shough was limited Wednesday because of an injury to his non-throwing left hand. Shough expects to play against Minnesota.
Running back Alvin Kamara, linebacker Kaden Elliss, edge rusher Anfernee Jennings and receiver Barion Brown were among Wednesday's nonparticipants. Chris Olave also sat out for rest.
New Orleans is working on a short week following Monday night's loss to Atlanta, making Thursday's participation particularly important.
NEW YORK GIANTS
Wide receiver Malik Nabers, left tackle Andrew Thomas and safety Jason Pinnock did not practice Wednesday.
Running back Cam Skattebo was limited with a shoulder injury, while tight end Isaiah Likely was limited with knee and groin issues.
The Giants have multiple offensive concerns entering their divisional matchup against Washington. Thomas' availability is especially important for pass protection.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Saquon Barkley did not practice Wednesday because of his hamstring injury and remains unlikely to play against Jacksonville in London.
Tank Bigsby has been placed on injured reserve, and Philadelphia is preparing to promote Dameon Pierce to help Will Shipley handle the backfield.
There was encouraging news elsewhere. Dallas Goedert, Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell and Fred Johnson returned to practice.
Philadelphia's backfield is the biggest concern, but the return of several starters could help offset some of its other personnel losses.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Baker Mayfield has officially been ruled out for Thursday against Dallas. Jalon Daniels will start again.
Tampa Bay also ruled out safety Antoine Winfield Jr., cornerback Benjamin Morrison and linebacker SirVocea Dennis.
The secondary and linebacker absences create additional defensive concerns beyond the quarterback downgrade. Kicker Chase McLaughlin returned to full participation after appearing on the injury report earlier in the week.
BOTTOM LINE
The biggest situations to monitor heading into Thursday are Lamar Jackson's ankle, Philadelphia's replacement backfield, Cincinnati's potentially depleted receiving corps, Chicago's offensive-line and running-back cluster, and the Chargers' tackle situation.
Thursday's practice reports should help clarify several of these situations before the final weekend injury designations are released.
